The Winter Classic was yesterday... Flyers v. Boston. Weather was good... didn't snow during the game, which I think adds some to the overall feel. It seemed overcast all day, which was good. If it had been sunny all day I think the ice would have been junkier.

Flyers got the first goal... One of the Flyers interfered with Boston's goaltender... then like 30 seconds later he came back in front of him, but not in the crease. Well, the goalie pushed the Flyer to get back at him, which took his eyes off the puck and the Flyers scored. It was pretty funny... :)

Then towards the end of the 3rd Boston scored... then got a power play which went into OT. (OT was played 3 v 4) Amazingly enough Boston did not score... but like a min or so after the PP ended they got a goal.

The Flyboys majorly outplayed Boston overall... had a lot of chances, but just couldn't get the goal in the net. Which sucked... You can't win games only scoring 1 goal.

It was a good game... even though they lost.

Oh.. they - Boston - did this stupid thing during the game where they had some people sing "Sweet Caroline" which I guess was an inside joke thing??? I dunno.. .I thought it was retarded and the Philly fans that where they had no idea what was going on.

I really hope they, the NHL, doesn't try to make the Winter Classic into some type of superbowl event.... Just play the dang game. :)


Oh, and the refs.. they were both from Boston... which I thought was a bit unfair. Boston had homeice advantage.. plus their refs...

3rd period and OT were good, but it was a little too closely checked the rest of the time for my taste. Thomas got lucky Sturm bailed him out after that beyond stupid stunt that cost the Bruins a goal. Bob Costas simply makes me want to hurl at the sound of his voice.

I don't know if CBC / HNIC carried it or not. If NBC was the only channel, I wouldn't have even watched it anyway. They suck at hockey.

NBC butchered it pretty bad. Not sure of the word, but I guess it seems like they romanticize everything. Especially Costas. It's just way over the top. Give me Keith Jones, Brian Engbloomn, or whatever his name is, and Eddie Olcyk on Versus anyday. On Versus, I actually look forward to intermission.
