why not? dunno.gif everyone thought they were crazy for putting a hockey team in texas. now it's one of the most lucrative clubs in the entire league.

i wouldn't do an expansion team though, we don't need any more temas. move one of the teams out of a town that doesn't want them there, like the islanders, or any of the florida teams.

or any of the florida teams.

That's my point.

You are putting a game in an area that most of the locals do not play. They have limited knowledge of the game, teams, players or HISTORY. Sure Vegas is growing and could support it, but between football, baseball, basketball, soccer, Nascar, lacross, UFC, arena football, ringette, and Indian leg wrestling, Hockey should not be in the mix.

And as for another team ---------- well Bettman is still an idiot.

They can have the Coyotes if they want em, Phoenix (as a town) sure as he!! shows no interest in hockey dunno.gif

that's exactly what they said when the game came here. it's amazing how knowledgeable the fans are now. and the stars have a home grown prospect in their farm system now with Austin Smith. born and raised in dallas texas. wtg.gif
high schools here now have hockey teams. sure, it took over 10 years to get to where we are now, but bringing something like hockey to this kind of area doesn't happen overnight. and of course winning the cup didn't hurt either.
i'm all for change, as long as it's good for the sport. adding an expansion team isn't the answer. hockey may not flourish in nevada, but they sure have means to support it. something some good teams around the league can't even claim.

Hockey is working in Dallas and that is great. They have a great front office, management, scouts and fans. That is what makes a team.

You have the southern hot cities that have poor teams, poor management and ho hum fans. It is bad for the sport because with all the teams it is spreading out the top rank players to thin and gives alot of players that should not even be in the league a big fat paycheck. That makes a lousy game.

Shag you had a post about how ignorant the fans in Nashville were. They are there for the beer and don't give a rat's azz about the sport and player accomplishments.

My brother called me one time at 4:30 in the morning tantrum fit.gif to tell me he was drunk th_drinks.gif in a bar in Manila and he was watching Leafs game. He said these guy's could not believe they were on a sheet of ice.

Hockey needs to stay in the cold climates for it to survive. The hot climates just don't get it.

Bettman wants to hob nob with the big boys of business ----- any business.
It may work in Vegas.
I am betting against it.

I enjoy our team. although I don't have the means to have season tickets, me and the fam enjoy a good hockey game. and for me that says something, because I am not a sports guy at all, i don't even keep up with my love, golf.
But for HOTlanta or team does well from what I hear. And i think it is a expansion team if I am correct isn't it.

I think any sport needs a growing fan base to survive not the same ole same ole.

Exactly.

I find it hard though that to grow a fan base, you need young fans that can actually skate on ice from time to time. They then are a fan for life.

Atlanta had a team (flames) and for whatever reason lost it to Calgary. They got one back in an expansion.
